ABINGDON, Va., Sept. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. , a leading U.S. coal producer, announced that Allen Scott Pack, Jr. has been named executive vice president-sales and president of Alpha Coal Sales Co., LLC. Pack, 50, succeeds Joachim Porco, who has accepted another career opportunity in the coal industry.
Following Alpha Natural Resources' recent merger with Foundation Coal Holdings, Inc., Pack was named executive vice-president of sales, with responsibility for managing the sales and marketing organization of the combined companies. Prior to the merger, he had served as president of Foundation Energy Sales, Inc. and senior vice president of sales and marketing for Foundation Coal Holdings, responsible for the overall sales and logistics of Foundation's 70-million-plus tons of thermal and met coal production.
Pack's 26 years of experience in the coal mining industry includes various engineering, sales, transportation and management positions at Enron Global Markets, LLC, Consol Energy Inc., Cannelton Industries, Inc., Maple Meadow Mining Co. and the New River Co. Pack is a member and past president of the Coal Club of Philadelphia and a member of the New York Coal Trade Association, The Traffic Club of Pittsburgh, and the North Carolina Coal Institute, and has a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from West Virginia University.
