Energy industry visionaries to be recognized for contributions in leadership, technology and innovation
Gulf Publishing Company has announced the finalists for its 8th annual World Oil Awards, which the company will host on October 15, 2009 in Houston to honor the energy industry’s leading innovators in technology. A list of the finalists can be found at http://www.worldoil.com/awards-finalists.aspx.
The awards dinner will also serve as a fundraiser for universities that offer the finest education for careers in the petroleum industry. More than 20 leading universities from across the globe have received contributions from the World Oil Awards in the past.
“By hosting the World Oil Awards, Gulf Publishing Company recognizes energy industry leaders for their accomplishments and innovations while also encouraging and inspiring younger generations of future industry leaders,” said John Royall, President and CEO for Gulf Publishing Company. “Significant concerns, such as the global energy crisis and alternative fuels, have been at the forefront of industry discussion, and we believe that by benefiting premier educational programs, we can have a hand in resolving these crucial issues.”
More than 50 companies representing multiple facets of the oil and gas industry will compete in award categories including Best Exploration Technology, Best Health, Safety, Environment/ Sustainable Development (sponsored by Schlumberger), Best Production Technology and the Innovative Thinkers Award (sponsored by Halliburton). Finalists for the awards were announced on August 26th, and the winners will be awarded at the October 15th event.
The night’s festivities will open with a reception (sponsored by Cameron) in the foyer at 6 p.m. Dinner will begin promptly at 7 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. Helge Hove Haldorsen, Vice President of StatoilHydro, will provide a keynote presentation on a “Salute to Technology.” The master of ceremonies will be KPRC Local 2 Houston Chief Meteorologist, Frank Billingsly and he will announce the winners of each of the categories. Immediately following the gala dinner will be a closing reception featuring entertainment (sponsored by Baker Hughes) by pianist and singer, Matt Willson.
