Environmental Tectonics Corporation Celebrates 40 Years of Innovation in Technology as a Small Business U.S. Manufacturer

SOUTHAMPTON, Pa., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Environmental Tectonics Corporation (BULLETIN BOARD: ETCC) ("ETC" or the "Company") today announced a celebration to commemorate 40 years of designing, engineering, and manufacturing U.S. built technology deployed in 87 countries around the globe. To mark this special occasion, ETC is hosting an open house on September 26th, 2009.

ETC is proud to be 'Buy-American" and is one of the last U.S. manufacturing companies. By staying flexible in changing global markets, ETC has created seven unique divisions each with multiple product lines and unique technology. ETC has succeeded over the years largely due to its continual investment in innovation, design, and engineering technology, all driven by its highly creative staff.

ETC was founded in the fall of 1969 in the garage of William F. Mitchell, CEO and President. By the spring of 1970, ETC had introduced its first product lines, a series of environmental test units and sterilizers. Within its first full year of operation, ETC generated $1.45 million dollars in sales and went public shortly thereafter.

ETC has evolved into a 300-employee dynamic small business company. ETC currently holds offices in Turkey, Poland, and Orlando, FL, and retains its headquarters location just outside Philadelphia, PA.

ETC recently implemented Lean Manufacturing to increase efficiency, reduce time and cost per job, and streamline business procedures to maximize the value-add for its customers. ETC is a leader in engineering technology as it continues to invest in new innovations and manufacture the technology for the future. William F. Mitchell stated, "We hope our innovations in technology continue to serve both our customers' needs and the industry's needs for another 40 years to come."

Highlights in ETC's Innovation Achievements and Manufacturing Technology Include:

-- ETC Aircrew Training Systems created the World's most sophisticated tactical flight and space simulator, the ATFS-400 high performance human centrifuge. Authentically replicating the environment of pilots to increase safety and preparedness, the ATFS-400 also employs 'green' regenerative braking technology that recovers 80% of the energy consumed to power the centrifuge. -- ETC Sterilizers designed the first "sectional" bulk sterilizer or autoclave used in the life science industry. ETC Sterilizers also feature closed loop vacuum pump systems which re-circulates water and limits water wastage. -- ETC Hyperbarics developed the first acrylic monoplace chamber with an internal diameter greater than twenty-five inches and PC-based electronic controls for patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Our new technology, O.S.C.A.R. (Operating Systems for Control and Record Keeping), satisfies Electronic Medical Recording (EMR). -- ETC Testing and Simulation Systems engineered an Altitude Simulation System for locations above or below sea level. It features the combination of a high pressure blower and valve system to maintain correct pressure, with refrigeration and heating systems to control temperature and humidity levels at a sea level environment. -- ETC Simulation created the Advanced Disaster Management Simulator (ADMS), an interactive, physics-based software training system that incorporates the latest artificial intelligence with geo-specific modeled environments and unscripted scenarios, to enhance the training effectiveness of first responders and emergency teams. -- ETC The Ride Works designed the first sustained G force ride at a major theme park center and continues to develop interactive, educational rides in their "Wild Earth" for zoos, aquariums, and museums.

ETC was incorporated in 1969 in Pennsylvania and this year we will celebrate our 40th anniversary. Our core technologies include the design, manufacture and sale of Training Services (TSG) which includes (1) software driven products and services used to create and monitor the physiological effects of flight; (2) high performance jet tactical flight simulation, and; (3) driving and disaster simulation systems, and Control Systems (CSG) which includes: (1) steam and gas sterilization; (2) testing and simulation devices for the automotive industry, and; (3) hyperbaric and hypobaric chambers. Product categories included in TSG are Aircrew Training Systems (ATS) and flight simulators, disaster management systems and entertainment applications. CSG includes sterilizers, environmental control devices and hyperbaric chambers along with parts and service support.
