EVANSVILLE, Ind., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In an effort to help reach customers with new media technologies, Vectren has launched VectrenLiveSmart.com, a new web site geared toward providing Vectren customers with access to pertinent energy information in a multi-media format.
The web site features educational and how-to videos as well as brief articles on topics such as energy efficiency and energy safety. Sample resources include videos detailing home improvement steps to reduce energy use such as how to caulk windows, the basics of home insulation and how to install a programmable thermostat. The articles, which provide links to third-party energy experts, focus on topics such as how appliances can be used efficiently, low-cost energy saving tips for winter and an overview of which video gaming systems consume the most energy. In addition, customers can submit feedback, ask energy-related questions and post their own energy conservation tips.
"VectrenLiveSmart.com is simply a different way to connect with customers," said Doug Petitt, Vectren's vice president of marketing and conservation. "In response to the continued popularity of social media, we are expanding our resources by providing new, interactive tools for our customers. In turn, we hope the site will allow customers to become more aware of the services that Vectren provides, especially conservation and energy efficiency resources, and how easy it is for customers to reduce their household's energy use. Furthermore, customers can easily share and post our information to various social media sites at their discretion."
The site's video library, which is regularly expanding, currently features:
-- Vectren's natural gas purchasing strategy in Indiana and how it relates to customers' bills; -- An overview of the natural gas Choice program in Ohio; -- Free and low-cost energy-saving tips for the winter; -- Cutting energy costs by unplugging phantom loads; -- Adding weather stripping to windows and doors; -- Maintaining furnace filters; -- Insulation basics; -- Installing a programmable thermostat; -- Installing energy-efficient shower heads; -- Caulking to prevent air leaks; and -- Installing low-flow faucet aerators.
