Dane A. Miller, Ph.D., co-founder, former CEO, and current board member of Biomet, Inc., was named the 2009 Phoenix Lifetime Achievement Award winner. The Phoenix Award recognizes the career of an executive or entrepreneur whose efforts have led a company to a leadership position in the medical device and diagnostic industry.
Dr. Miller was honored at Phoenix 2009, “a medical device and diagnostic conference for chief executive officers that explores key issues facing the industry,” according to Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, which co-founded the event, along with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Elsevier Business Intelligence and Versant Ventures.

He has been an influential leader in the medical device industry, the business world, and the philanthropic world. We congratulate Dane on this well-deserved recognition.”
Among his various memberships and honors, Dr. Miller is a fellow of the National Academy of Engineering, and a member of the Shands Circle of the Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation. He serves as a board member of the University of Chicago Health Systems and Kettering University, and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the World Craniofacial Foundation and the University of Cincinnati Foundation. He and his wife formed the Dane and Mary Louise Miller Foundation, which supports various philanthropic activities.
