Inspired by the goals set forth earlier this year in President Obama's American Graduation Initiative and fueled by the existing and future needs of our country for skilled workers in today's knowledge-based society and economy, Anne Arundel Community College is responding with a college-wide initiative, Student Success 2020.
AACC will launch Student Success 2020 on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 2:15 p.m. in the David S. Jenkins Gymnasium on the college's Arnold, Md., campus. As part of this initiative, AACC President Martha A. Smith, Ph.D., will announce plans for AACC to double the number of its students who earn degrees, certificates and industry-recognized certifications by the year 2020.
Guests will include the deputy assistant secretary for the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Vocational and Adult Education Glenn Cummings and Dr. James E. Lyons Sr., secretary of the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
The Dec. 1 launch of AACC's Student Success 2020 initiative is sponsored by the AACC Foundation Inc.
