AVIATION WEEK Announces 2009 MRO Asia Awards / MAS E&M and EGAT honored during premier aviation maintenance event in Hong Kong

HONG KONG, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- AVIATION WEEK, the largest multimedia information and services provider to the global aerospace and defense industries, has presented its prestigious 2009 Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Asia Awards to Malaysia Airlines Engineering & Maintenance (MAS E&M) and Evergreen Aviation Technologies Corp. (EGAT). The awards were presented during AVIATION WEEK's ninth annual MRO Asia 2009 Conference & Exhibition this week at the AsiaWorld-Expo facility in Lantau, Hong Kong, China.

MAS E&M received the 2009 Best Asia-Pacific Airline MRO Operation award, as selected by Overhaul & Maintenance (O&M) editors. This award recognizes the creative strategies MAS E&M has used this year to expand its capabilities and strengthen its position as the market recovers. "Over the past year, MAS E&M has responded in progressive ways to customer demand, providing unique packages and forming joint ventures with India's Hyderabad International Airport, Alenia Aeronavali, and EADS-SECA," said O&M Editor-in-Chief Lee Ann Tegtmeier, while presenting the award. "MAS E&M has positioned itself well to take advantage of resurgent opportunities."

EGAT received the 2009 Best Asia-Pacific Independent MRO Operation award, as selected by O&M editors. The award honors EGAT's strong safety and quality systems as well as its approach to customer service. During the award presentation, O&M Editor-in-Chief Lee Ann Tegtmeier pointed out EGAT's recently signed MRO agreements with JETAIRFLY, Air Atlanta Icelandic, Vietnam Airlines, China Eastern and Garuda airlines, which indicate a greatly expanded customer base through the company's customized technical support services.

Each year, MRO Asia attracts more than 1,000 airline and government officials and maintenance and safety experts from around the globe to explore the future of aviation MRO through a series of management-level discussions and a tradeshow exhibition.
