AMERCO Real Estate Expands U-Haul Self-Storage Operations With the Grand Opening of the Wall Avenue U-Haul Center

OGDEN, Utah, Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- AMERCO Real Estate announced today that it has expanded the U-Haul network of self-storage locations with the grand opening of the Wall Avenue U-Haul Center. The state-of-the art facility, located at 3421 Wall Ave., boasts 449 storage units, 432 of which are climate controlled, with more than 36,950 square feet of storage.

Join the Ogden Weber Chamber of Commerce and U-Haul Company of Utah for a grand opening ceremony to be held on Monday, December 21, 2009, at the Wall Avenue U-Haul Center. Hear remarks from representatives of the Ogden Weber Chamber of Commerce and the president of U-Haul Company of Utah. An official ribbon-cutting is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. and tours of the Wall Avenue U-Haul Center will begin after the ceremony.

"We are pleased to be expanding our presence in Ogden, and look forward to continuing our long-standing relationships with local communities throughout Utah," stated Mike Kemp, president, U-Haul Company of Utah. "Moreover, with the expansion of U-Haul self-storage operations, we are better equipped to meet our customers' current and future needs. Families needing the finest in moving services now will have increased convenience and a shorter distance to travel when moving and storing their goods, which not only will make their move easier but also will have the positive effect of reducing the amount of carbon emissions released into the atmosphere," Kemp said.

This building which U-Haul purchased in April was retrofitted and redesigned with our sustainable focus in mind. The lighting was changed out to sustainable lighting and a self-storage reuse center was built to provide our customers with a location to donate unwanted, gently used household goods, furniture, sporting equipment and clothing for other customers to take for free, items that normally would be headed to a landfill.

This location will be selling a wide variety of environmentally friendly packing supplies: boxes made out of recyclable materials, 100 percent biodegradable packing peanuts and moving pads made from recycled denim. Also on site will be Take A Box/Leave a Box display, which allows customers or anyone in the community to leave moving boxes or unwanted electronics boxes for another customer to reuse for free, instead of throwing them away or recycling them. In two weeks, this facility also will have available a propane tank that will provide alternative fuel for vehicles and propane for barbecue grills.

New U-Haul self-storage facilities feature 24-hour security with electronically controlled access, state-of-the-art digital-video surveillance, individually alarmed rooms, your lock/your key, both climate- and nonclimate-controlled storage rooms, FREE use of storage carts, no deposit or administration fees, a convenient credit-card payment plan and available low-cost Safestor coverage to protect possessions.

Customers who rent a U-Haul moving van or trailer for a one-way move can receive one month of free storage before or after their move.

Customers can rent storage from more than 1,091 U-Haul owned storage facilities across the United States and Canada by calling their neighborhood U-Haul center, visiting http://www.uhaul.com/ or contacting the U-Haul national reservation system, at 1-800-GO-UHAUL.

Since 1989, AMERCO Real Estate Company, an affiliate of U-Haul International, Inc., has been responsible for providing real estate services to AMERCO subsidiaries that include more than 1,350 U-Haul moving and storage centers throughout the United States and Canada.
