Schiff Hardin LLP Welcomes Former PrivateBancorp General Counsel Christopher J. Zinski as a Partner

CHICAGO, Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Christopher J. Zinski is joining Schiff Hardin LLP as a Partner in the Corporate and Securities and Financial Institutions Groups. Mr. Zinski returns to Schiff Hardin after serving since 2006 as General Counsel of PrivateBancorp, Inc. , the bank holding company for The PrivateBank.

Mr. Zinski represents financial institutions and other public and private companies in general corporate and securities matters, mergers and acquisitions, capital raising transactions, and other capital markets activities. His practice also focuses on the responsibilities of audit and compensation committees, and related corporate governance. This includes a practice concentration on financial institutions and their holding companies in strategic planning, crisis management, private and public equity and debt financings, FDIC-assisted acquisitions, and enterprise risk management. The regulated nature of the financial institutions industry frequently brings him before federal and state bank regulatory agencies.

For the past three years, Mr. Zinski has served as General Counsel of PrivateBancorp, Inc. and its subsidiary, The PrivateBank, a leading Chicago-based financial institution with an expanding national presence. In addition to managing all of the corporation's legal affairs, Mr. Zinski provided counsel to the CEO and Board of Directors on strategic initiatives, capital markets activities, corporate and regulatory compliance, and executive compensation.

Ronald S. Safer, Schiff Hardin's Managing Partner, emphasized the significance of Mr. Zinski's return to Schiff Hardin: "Chris carries on the longstanding tradition of numerous Schiff Hardin partners who have left our firm for extended periods to serve as corporate general counsels or in government service and then brought that valuable experience back to further strengthen our client service capabilities."

Larry D. Richman, President and Chief Executive Officer, PrivateBancorp, Inc., added, "Chris' counsel and expertise have been extremely valuable as PrivateBancorp has embarked on its vision to be the leading commercial middle market bank here in Chicago. We appreciate his years of service and wish him continued success in his return to Schiff Hardin."

Mr. Zinski initially joined Schiff Hardin in 1993 after practicing law in Washington, D.C. for several years, representing financial institutions nationwide in regulatory and transactional matters.
