The Health Net Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT) today announced that it is supporting an employee matching funds program to bring relief to the Haitian people through Project Medishare Haiti. The Foundation will match employee donations with a contribution of $50,000.
"Our deepest sympathies are with those who have been affected by this tragedy," said Jay Gellert, Health Net Foundation board member and president and chief executive officer of Health Net, Inc. "You can't listen to the news or watch the dramatic images of the effects of such a devastating earthquake and not want to lend a hand. We know that the funds we donate to Project Medishare Haiti will help provide important and urgent medical care to so many in need."
Project Medishare Haiti, Inc. was founded 13 years ago to provide continuing medical care in the Central Plateau, one of the poorest regions in Haiti. That outreach has taken on even greater urgency with the massive destruction caused by the recent earthquake.
