Camps Prepare Young Women to Soar in Life
Wings to Fly, a non-profit organization created to promote life-long self-esteem in young women, and known for delivering programs to teens through their signature summer camps, today announced the 2010 Arizona summer camp dates and locations. The Wings to Fly week-long camps will be offered for young women ages 12 to 17 on June 19 – 26, and July 10 – 17, 2010, with additional dates under consideration. Camps will be held at the beautiful Chauncey Ranch only 1 hour and 15 minutes from Phoenix, and featuring a 9-square-mile camp experience with activities that range from ropes courses and horseback riding to hiking and yoga.
For teenage girls, self-confidence can be hard to have with pressures to look and act a certain way while trying to be popular. Yet, a healthy self-image is one of the most important companions a young girl can have as she journeys through the teen years. The Wings to Fly camps provide fun, inspiration and confidence-building experiences in a nurturing environment through a camp experience.
"Self-esteem is a result of a good sense of confidence and is at the core of helping girls make decisions that serve them, and demonstrate self-respect, ultimately allowing them to take responsibility for their choices," said Renie Cavallari, founder of Wings to Fly and chairman of the board for the charity.
Through interactive, stimulating activities at camp, girls develop a better understanding of who they are and how to be a great friend to others, Cavallari said.
Participants will explore new ways to approach life with real-life tools created around the four building blocks of life -- emotional, physical, spiritual and financial. Fun activities at Wings to Fly camp include hiking, swimming, arts, singing, dancing, cooking lessons, learning about nature and understanding your body, clothing and style and make-up. Girls even learn how to build a business and explore the stars.
Certified coaches serve as mentors and provide inspiration, encouragement, and coaching at camp. In addition, the coaches are available for follow-up telephone sessions with parents and legal guardians to help keep the learning alive.
