Hosted and streamed library of video learning objects will help virtual high schools, colleges, and universities address the growing need for instruction in developmental math and encourage innovation in math instruction using online delivery methods.
INTELECOM Intelligent Telecommunications today announced it has reached a distribution agreement to produce and distribute a comprehensive collection of developmental math video clips on its digital content repository, the INTELECOM Online Resources Network®.
The collection will draw from the ModuMath Basic Math video curriculum of the Wisconsin Technical College System Foundation. ModuMath was designed to meet the needs of students who have had little success with classroom or textbook instruction, and uses computer animation and graphics to guide learners through the problem-solving process. The series was recently reviewed by Caren McClure, Professor of Mathematics at Santa Ana College, for accuracy, scope and suitability as an online resource. As part of the production process, all of the estimated 300 video tutorials will be closed captioned for hearing impaired learners and digitally encoded for streaming on-demand.
The collaboration between INTELECOM and the Wisconsin Technical College System Foundation will help to meet the growing demand for pre-college fundamental mathematics classes for learners who are struggling with math or preparing for the transition to college mathematics. It will also encourage innovation in math instruction through the use of online delivery methods targeting off-campus learners.
"We are particularly excited to be working with our colleagues in Wisconsin," says Cameron Cox, Vice President at INTELECOM. "They have a proven track record in content development and distance learning, and by partnering with them to distribute their math content digitally, we can address national priorities in the areas of online learning, remediation, and STEM."
The INTELECOM Online Resources Network®is a subscription database and digital content repository of academic video clips that are hosted and streamed on demand. The service currently hosts more than 2,500 video clips across a range of core academic disciplines. Faculty and students at colleges, universities, and virtual high schools that subscribe to the service can readily embed permanent URLs or video players directly into any CMS, PowerPoint presentations, interactive web pages, e-books, and more.
The Developmental Math video clip collection will be available on a subscription basis beginning Fall 2010. For more information about the INTELECOM Online Resources Network® or to request a free 10-day trial, go to www.intelecomonline.net. Or you can call (800) 576-2988.
