Baselight and Truelight On-Set from FilmLight to Showcase Advantages of Latest "HDCAM-SR" File Based Workflows
At NAB 2010, FilmLight will show the speed, quality and infrastructure cost saving benefits of the new Sony "HDCAM-SR" file based workflows including native support for the MPEG-4 SStP codec atthe Sony Electronics (Booth C1101).
Capturing output from a Sony F35 camera to Sony "HDCAM-SR" SRW-5800/2 VTR, FilmLight will demonstrate how it is possible to visualise how digital film camera output will look in the cinema during shot setup and recording using Truelight On-Set to apply 3D-LUTs for looks and film emulation in real-time.Pre-defined looks and primary colour correction conforming to the American Society of Cinematographers Colour Decision List (ASC-CDL) can also be applied near set after recording a shot. ASC-CDL colour decisions made on-set can be embedded as auxiliary data and recorded on the "HDCAM-SR" tape in the same process. They can be used as a starting point for the final grade in Baselight, or burned-into shots to create digital dailies.
Baselight will also demonstrate the latest advances in "HDCAM-SR" workflows with 2X speed uncompressed HDSDI Ingest providing double-speed ingest or real-time 3D stereoscopicingest capability. Also on show is the native grading support for the standards-based high quality 440Mbit MPEG-4 SStP codec, on which the "HDCAM-SR" recording is based.SStP is now available as MXF wrapped media for near real-time exchange over a GB Ethernet connection from the latest SRW-5800/2 VTR and can be decoded in real-time within Baselight.
Sony General Manager Content Creation Solutions Business Division, Hiroshi Kiriyama said,"FilmLight is one of the first manufactures in the industry to realize the benefits of MPEG-4 SStP file based workflows, and they have been instrumental in establishing a powerful yet efficient system to manage high quality images created by our F35 camera and recorded to HDCAM-SR tape."
* HDCAM-SR is a trade mark of Sony Corporation
