Major Technology and Service Suppliers Look Forward to a Better Future
"Who is likely to own the European polymer industry in 2020?" Delegates at the PEPP 2010 world congress on June 14 and 15 in Zurich should have a better idea after they hear one of the keynote speeches at the annual polyolefins conference organized by Maack Business Services. The talk will be given by Alasdair Nisbet, a managing director at investment bank Lazard.
Those more worried by the current volatility in polymer pricing will be able to discuss the merits of the futures market with Robert Sheldon at the London Metal Exchange, while Luca Carabelli at Quadrant will talk about how one important polymer user is coping with price fluctuations.
Companies concerned about the effects on their business of REACH legislation (covering registration, evaluation and authorization of chemicals) will get many of their questions answered during a talk from expert Catherine Weller at law firm Allen & Overy. And the increasingly important aspect of carbon footprinting, and how it relates specifically to the sector, will be covered by Eric Johnson at Atlantic Consulting.
An in-depth view of the current and likely future state of the polyethylene and polypropylene production chains will be provided by Andrea Borruso, director of Middle East Operations at SRI Consulting (an affiliate of MBS within the Access Intelligence group).
The conference will also point the spotlight on important new market developments, with presentations looking at developments emanating from Brazil (Braskem), India (Reliance) and Russia (Sibur). And there will be special sessions on process and engineering technologies, on compounding, on catalyst and additive developments, and on new polymers and applications.
The two-day conference will be followed on Wednesday June 16 by a half-day open house at Burckhardt Compression, where visitors will be able to find out all about advanced compressor solutions for polyolefin production.
Delegates can register online. Details and more information about PEPP 2010 are available at www.mbspolymer.com/pepp.
