DOSWELL, Va., May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Kings Dominion is pleased to announce that it will offer FREE admission to active, retired and former United States military personnel on Sunday and Monday of both the Memorial Day and July 4th weekends as a part of its Tribute to the Armed Forces program. The exact dates are May 30, 31 and July 4, 5, 2010 and include all branches of the service, including National Guard and Reserves.
The free ticket offer will be available on the Sunday and Monday of each weekend and a valid military ID or discharge papers must be presented at Kings Dominion on one of the dates of the program.
Also as a part of its Tribute to the Armed Forces program, active, retired and former members of the U.S. military will be able to purchase discounted admission tickets for members of their immediate family (maximum of six) at a special military discount price of $33.99 at the park. Many of the MWR and ITT Recreation offices located in Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C. and North Carolina offer discounted admission tickets, as well as, a special picnic package for these dates at their locations (picnic packages must be purchased in advance). Kings Dominion suggests you purchase your friends and family tickets at these locations.
To help usher in summer Kings Dominion will also light up the skies with an amazing display of fireworks on May 29 and 30. Set to patriotic music, this dazzling pyrotechnic marvel will begin at 10:00 pm with a column of fire from the parks "Volcano" roller coaster.
A sure sign that summer has arrived is the opening of Kings Dominion's WaterWorks, a 20-acre water playland. Starting Saturday May 29 guests can ride all the HOT roller coasters and then COOL off in the endless wave-pools and water-slides of Central Virginia's coolest oasis!
Daily operation begins Friday, May 28. WaterWorks waterpark opens Saturday, May 29 - 31, then daily June 4.
