ABINGDON, Va., May 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. , a leading U.S. coal producer, announced the re-election of ten members of its board of directors at the company's annual meeting of stockholders held in Abingdon today. Additionally, KPMG LLP was ratified as the company's independent registered public accounting firm for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2010. Stockholders also approved the company's 2010 Long-Term Incentive Plan.
Re-elected directors include Michael J. Quillen, chairman of the board of Alpha; Kevin S. Crutchfield, chief executive officer of Alpha; William J. Crowley Jr.; E. Linn Draper, Jr.; Glenn A. Eisenberg; John W. Fox, Jr.; P. Michael Giftos; Joel Richards, III; James F. Roberts; and Ted G. Wood. Each of these directors will serve a one-year term.
Alpha's board of directors authorized a share repurchase program today. The program permits Alpha to repurchase up to $125 million of its outstanding stock ("Shares"). The program enables Alpha's management to repurchase Shares from time to time, as market conditions warrant.
