Expands Team and Relocates Operations to the IZB in Martinsried/Munich
LEUKOCARE AG, a privately-owned company developing innovative biofunctional surfaces using its proprietary Stabilizing and Protecting Technology (SPS), announced that it has appointed Dr. Wolfram Altenhofen as its new VP Business Development.
Dr. Altenhofen previously was responsible for building up sales forces in Europe and India. A pharmacist by profession, he received his Ph.D. in biophysics from Forschunszentrum Jülich. Returning from temporary appointments in USA and France, Dr. Altenhofen continued his research in the field of drug discovery for BASF in Ludwigshafen. In over 13 years he gained extensive knowledge in preclinical research as well as in the sales organization of pharmaceutical products and he can rely on a worldwide network in the biopharmaceutical industry.
"Dr. Altenhofen has a broad knowledge of molecular protein science as well as an impressive business development experience and he will be of great benefit to LEUKOCARE," stated Michael Scholl, CEO of LEUKOCARE. "We welcome Wolfram to our expanding team in this important phase for the company, with a significant number of employees joining in the R&D, quality management and business development sectors. This will as well contribute greatly to LEUKOCARE's plans for further strategic growth."
"LEUKOCARE's technology enables completely new options in the combination of medical devices with biopharmaceutical functionality and I am excited and feel privileged to be joining the company at this pivotal stage. Together with the team assembled, we will translate this into groundbreaking innovations and commercial success for our partners, " said Dr. Wolfram Altenhofen, the new VP Business Development of LEUKOCARE.
In order to accommodate the company's dynamic growth, LEUKOCARE also merged their R&D division in Frankfurt with their head office in Munich and completed the relocation to the Innovation Center for Biotechnology (IZB) in Martinsried/Munich on 1st June 2010.
Martinsried is an attractive and renowned location for biotechnology in Europe, which is currently home to approximately 60 companies with an additional 20 companies in the surrounding area. The IZB is especially promising for young biotechnology companies focused on business development and the international market, due to its close proximity with prominent biotechnology and research establishments in the area.
