FreedomWorks PAC is pleased to announce its addition of devoted conservative Jon Barela, candidate in the NM-01 congressional election, to the Take America Back in 2010 campaign leading up to November. Barela earned the "Champion of Freedom" endorsement for his lifelong commitment to public service in defense of the free market and the advancement of liberty.
Jon Barela has served the people of New Mexico for over 25 years as a senior congressional aide, Assistant Attorney General and Director of the Civil Division, skilled lawyer and an active participant on several non-profit boards of directors. He holds a deep understanding of the legislative process and the inverse relationship between government regulation and economic prosperity.
By lowering taxes and allowing New Mexicans to keep more of their money, Barela believes individuals and small businesses will reverse economic hardship through investment and spending. Personal investment and private sector development are the keys to job growth in America - not excessive taxes and legislative red tape.
FreedomWorks PAC will support the Barela campaign by funding numerous Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts, including direct mailings, yard sign distribution, volunteer phone banks and neighborhood literature drops leading up to election day.
New Mexico's District One congressional election is a key opportunity to vote out big-spender Democrat incumbent Martin Heinrich. Congressman Heinrich boasts of his efforts to pass the $787 billion bailout, and applauded Nancy Pelosi's reconciliation health care takeover. He actively campaigns for further regulation of the energy market, housing market, lending market, credit market, and job market, to name a few.
"If there is one recurring theme in Congressman Heinrich's agenda, it is government control," observed FreedomWorks PAC Chairman Dick Armey. "Jon Barela on the other hand, sees a brighter future for New Mexicans, where hard work and innovation reap the natural rewards of the free market. A vote for Jon Barela would clearly be a vote for individual liberty and economic prosperity."
