CALGARY, Alberta, June 23 (Reuters) - Suncor Energy Inc said on Wednesday it will sell Alberta natural gas properties to Abu Dhabi National Energy Co for C$285 million ($274 million) as Canada's biggest oil company culled more assets after its 2009 takeover of Petro-Canada.
The properties, located in the Bearberry and Ricinus areas in west-central Alberta, produce about 6,100 barrels of oil equivalent a day.
The sale to the Abu Dhabi company, commonly known as Taqa, is slated to close in the latter part of the third quarter, Suncor said.
Since the Petro-Canada deal, Suncor has sold about C$2.4 billion of assets, including holdings in the U.S. Rockies, the Netherlands and Trinidad and Tobago.
Suncor shares rose 31 Canadian cents to C$34.04 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Wednesday. It announced the sale after the market closed.
