Borders Honors Military With 25% Discount / Borders also teams with Disabled American Veterans to Deploy Mobile Resource Offices to Select Stores to Support Veterans

ANN ARBOR, Mich., June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Borders® is again demonstrating its support for active and retired military personnel and their families - this time with a generous 25% discount off the list price of almost everything in store (with some exclusions) beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, June 29 through Sunday, July 4. In addition, the company has also teamed with Disabled American Veterans (DAV), a nonprofit organization that represents this nation's disabled veterans, to host a Mobile Service Office (MSO) at select Borders stores in Maine, New York, California and New Mexico Friday, July 2.

The DAV's MSO program is designed to educate and assist disabled veterans and their families about specific veteran's benefits. These fully functional mobile units can file compensation and disability claims, assist veterans with questions about continuing education opportunities and field general questions about veterans' benefits.

The Borders stores noted below will be participating in the MSO program on July 2. Units will be parked at each store from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Consumers are encouraged to call the stores directly to obtain additional information.

Borders 430 Gorham Rd. South Portland, ME 04106 (207) 775-6110 Borders 162 East Main St. Mount Kisco, NY 10549 (914) 241-8387 Borders 1072 Camino Del Rio N. San Diego, CA 92108 (619) 295-2201 Borders (2 p.m. to 8 p.m.) 2240 Q St. NE Albuquerque, NM 87110 (505) 884-7711 Borders Benefit Days

In addition, each of the stores noted above will host a "Benefit Day" to support the work of the DAV. Throughout the year, Borders stores partner with nonprofits across the country to host Benefit Days -- fundraising events where supporters of the nonprofits shop on a designated day or days. Borders will donate up to 30% of the days' net sales, made by the nonprofit supporters, to the participating organization. More information about the local Benefit Days at these locations will be forthcoming.

Borders has a longstanding history of recognizing those who contribute to communities. Educators, military and those who serve others are supported throughout the year through special in-store promotions, events and activities. Borders also works with local communities nationwide through its relationship with Gifts In Kind International, a leading charitable organization in the product giving field. Borders and Gifts In Kind work together to donate non-returnable, unsold items from stores to local charities that are part of Gifts In Kind's national network.

To receive the special 25% discount being offered June 29 through July 4, a valid military ID must be presented at the time of purchase. Active and retired military personnel and their families can shop at any Borders superstore, Waldenbooks, Borders Express and Borders Airport store nationwide and receive this discount.
