With more than 300 employees, Albemarle's Pasadena facility has been in operation for more than 50 years. During this time, the site has also established an equally impressive history of community service. Recent activities include:

-- Assembling over 500 bikes to be given to needy children -- Supporting mentoring programs at local high schools -- Hosting annual science experiments/demonstrations at local schools -- Providing financial contributions to the community to support initiatives such as summer camps promoting science to young girls -- Supporting various requests from the community for time and resources -- Participating in the Pasadena Industrial Network, a group of business leaders who work together to find opportunities that need financial support or that could benefit from the time and talents of the companies' employees

Johnny Isbell, Pasadena's Mayor, presented Michael Brown, Plant Manager for Albemarle's Pasadena site, with the award. "We certainly appreciate what you do," said Mayor Isbell during the presentation. "We know you furnish jobs for many of our residents...but you also go above and beyond to give back to the community they live in. It means a lot to us, and we thank you."

"We try to give back to the community, whether it's financially or through activities we support, from a volunteering perspective or by utilizing the talents our employees have," said Brown. "We're excited to be in Pasadena and to be working with the various organizations, school systems and other programs we support that make Pasadena a better place -- much like the products we manufacture do for the rest of the world."

"We thank the City of Pasadena for recognizing our employees' commitment to making a difference in our community," Brown continued. "Their dedication has helped establish Albemarle as a leader in corporate citizenship at work, at home and in our neighborhoods."
