Goddess Artemis Medallion, sponsored by Elle Amber D.Anagnostopoulos was also presented to all honorees. The EAWC Goddess Artemis Award and the induction into the Women's Hall of Fame are key highlights of the EAWC's 14th Annual Global Forum themed "Women Lead the Way on Green Energy and Environment: Making their Impact on the Economy and Culture". The Forum is under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change-Physical Planning and Public Works, and is supported by Greek National Tourism Organization and the Municipality of Athens.
"I am humbled by the honor conferred on me today and am grateful to Loula Alafoyiannis, the Government of Greece and the Mayors of Athens and Mykonos for their gracious welcome and hospitality," stated Ms Almas Jiwani, "I will endeavor to continue to strive to work tirelessly for gender equality and women's empowerment and to further the platform of building bridges of mutual understanding, promoting pluralism, cultural harmony and advocating a dialogue of civilizations to make a profound difference in the lives of the underprivileged and victims of what His Highness the Aga Khan refers to as the "clash of ignorance" around the world."
These three recognitions marks a momentous occasion for UNIFEM (worldwide) and also for Canada, as Ms. Jiwani is the first global UNIFEM member and the second Canadian to be bestowed with this most prestigious Award and the first Canadian to be inducted into the Women's Hall of Fame. Furthermore, Ms. Jiwani is the first Ismaili, follower of His Highness the Prince Aga Khan selected as a recipient of this prominent honour.
