The Marshall Funds Adds Mike Robinson as Director of Intermediary Distribution

MILWAUKEE, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Marshall Funds today announced the appointment of C. Michael Robinson as senior vice president and director of Intermediary Distribution. Robinson will manage distribution of the funds through financial intermediaries such as registered investment advisers, broker dealers and the distribution platforms that interact with these firms.

"Mike's professional credentials will support our plans to expand distribution of the Marshall Funds," said Tommy Huie, CFA, president and chief investment officer of M&I Investment Management Corp., adviser to the Marshall Funds. "With seven of 11 funds (Investor class) earning either a four- or five-star overall Morningstar Rating(TM) as of June 30, 2010, the fund family's performance provides significant opportunity for growth in assets under management."

Robinson joins the Marshall Funds with more than 25 years of institutional investment sales experience. Most recently, Robinson served as vice president and head of platform sales for RiverSource Investments, where he was also responsible for U.S. distribution of the firm's London affiliate, Threadneedle.

Prior to joining RiverSource, Robinson served for more than 18 years in a variety of institutional sales leadership positions with American Century Investments. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, he is a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. He also holds a master's degree in marketing from Webster University in St. Louis.

M&I Investment Management Corp. has been adviser to the Marshall Funds mutual fund family since the first fund was established in 1992. The Marshall Funds offers institutional and private investors an array of mutual funds that span the risk-reward spectrum. Corporations, foundations and endowments, Taft-Hartley plans, governmental entities and high-net-worth individuals look to M&I Investment Management for asset management expertise.

You should consider the Fund's investment objectives, risks, charges, and expenses carefully before investing. For a prospectus and/or summary prospectus, which contain this and other information about the Marshall Funds, call 1-800-580-3863. Please read it carefully before investing. M&I Distributors, LLC, is the distributor. Keep in mind that as interest rates rise, bond prices fall. This may have an adverse effect on the Fund's portfolio. Small-Cap and Mid-Cap stocks are less liquid and more volatile than large-cap stocks. Funds that have a higher concentration of investments in a specific industry or sector may be subject to a higher degree of market risk than funds whose investments are more diversified.

For each fund with at least a three-year history, Morningstar calculates a Morningstar Rating(TM) based on a Morningstar risk-adjusted return measure that accounts for variation in a fund's monthly performance (including the effects of sales charges, loads, and redemption fees), placing more emphasis on downward variations and rewarding consistent performance. The top 10 percent of funds in each category receive five stars, the next 22.5 percent receive four stars, the next 35 percent receive three stars, the next 22.5 percent receive two stars and the bottom 10 percent receive one star. (Each share class is counted as a fraction of one fund within this scale and rated separately, which may cause slight variations in the distribution percentages.) The overall Morningstar Rating for a fund is derived from a weighted average of the performance figures associated with its three-, five- and 10-year (if applicable) Morningstar Rating metrics. Morningstar Ratings are for the Investor share class only; other classes may have different performance characteristics. © 2010 Morningstar, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
