Geokinetics Appoints Interim Chief Financial Officer

HOUSTON, Aug. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Geokinetics Inc. (NYSE Amex: GOK) today announced that Ronald D. Cayon has been appointed as the Company's interim Chief Financial Officer, effective today August 19, 2010, pending completion of a search for a permanent replacement. Mr. Cayon currently serves as a consultant to the Company and has been acting as interim Chief Accounting Officer since March 2010.

Scott A. McCurdy, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, resigned from his position effective August 18, 2010. Mr. McCurdy previously informed the Company's board of directors and senior management of his intention to resign in May 2010 and subsequently agreed to delay his departure to assist through the second quarter 2010 reporting period.

During his 9 year tenure he has been instrumental in transforming Geokinetics into a recognized global leader in seismic data acquisition and processing. Mr. Cayon has over 30 years of relevant experience, which includes serving as the Chief Financial Officer or Managing Director of both public and private companies with exposure to domestic and international markets, and he is currently a Partner at Tatum LLC, the nation's largest executive services firm. Mr. Cayon earned a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Science degree at Bentley University, and he is a Certified Public Accountant.
