Stockholm, Sweden - 26 September 2010 - Transmode, a leading provider of optical networking solutions, today announced that Simon Naylor has been appointed as head of sales Asia and Pacific. Mr. Naylor will lead the company's growing APAC sales operation from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
"I am delighted to welcome such an experienced sales professional as Simon Naylor to the Transmode team," said Karl Thedéen, Transmode's CEO. "Simon brings extensive expertise in the telecoms area, a great track record of sales growth and an excellent network of industry contacts."
Mr. Naylor joins the Transmode team at a time when Asian sales for Transmode are growing rapidly. The company has been supporting this growth with last year's appointment of a sales manager, additional headcount in 2010 and the new office in Kuala Lumpur, where Mr. Naylor will manage sales, the growing team and relationships with partners in the region such as Japanese NEC.
Mr. Naylor has more than 25 years' experience in the telecommunications industry, having previously held senior sales and marketing management positions with Infinera, Sonus Networks, Equant Information Services and Case Communications Systems. He was most recently employed as VP Asia Pacific for Infinera.
Originally from Oxford, he studied economics at Manchester University, UK. He has lived in Kuala Lumpur with his family for the past eight years, having previously lived and worked in Singapore and Hong Kong over a 12-year period, so he is experienced in the various styles of business in the region and has an excellent network of contacts in the industry.
He commented, "I am thrilled to be joining the team at Transmode, I am looking forward to contributing to the further growth of Transmode's sales in Asia and Pacific and believe that the company, together with the partners, has the right mix of product range and services to meet the demand for increased bandwidth in the Metro Network space."
Björn Andersson, Transmode's Global VP Sales, commented, "The demand for more bandwidth continues to grow in APAC like in the other major markets. We are very much committed to growth and have therefore decided to strengthen Transmode's position in the region and Simon is the ideal appointment to achieve this. As a well known and respected person within the optical networking community, he will quickly have a positive impact in the market and we welcome him to an already successful APAC team at Transmode."
