A new and smaller model, Quattro FX provides an effective alternative to conventional full face masks. Only covering the patient's mouth and nose, the Quattro FX mask offers unrestricted view, giving patients a clear line of sight. New technologies incorporated in the contoured cushion membranes of the Spring Air cushion and Spring frame, enables the same level of stability and angular adjustment as provided by the forehead support of conventional full face masks. New headgear design, featuring a contoured crown strap at the top of the head, further contributes to patient comfort by avoiding the sensitive area around the neck.
The custom-made sizing tool, Swing Seal, simplifies the fitting process and increases the chances of an accurate fitting. Once fitted, convenient set-and-forget headgear clips provides easy attachment and detachment, without adjusting the headgear settings. This helps the patient achieve the right fit and secure sealing every night, enhancing patient compliance and comfort. The seal is kept safe with the Spring Air cushion which absorbs even the slightest movement.
Sleep apnoea is one of the more common, and yet highly undiagnosed, sleep disorders. Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is the most common type of sleep apnoea and is marked by the collapse or obstruction of the airway during sleep. The most effective treatment is Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy. In this non-invasive treatment, air is pressurised by a small device and delivered to the airway of the patient through a mask that fits on/over the nose, or nose and mouth. The pressurised air keeps the upper airway open and helps the person to get a restful night without interruptions caused by apnoeas.
ResMed recently launched the new S9 Series featuring reduced noise, improved humidification system, and a more comfortable breathing system. The S9 Series is designed to deliver unsurpassed comfort to the patient by automatically controlling the pressure. The introduction of yet another mask for use with the S9 devices contributes to increased consumer choice for sufferers of sleep apnoea and offers the quietest mask and machine combination available on the market.
"We are extremely proud to offer more choice to those suffering from sleep apnoea and other respiratory problems by diversifying the Quattro range. This addition to the Quattro range, where we have achieved a smaller size, while at the same time maintaining the same quality as the other masks in the range, is a true innovation," added Mike McEwan, Vice President, Patient Interface, Europe at ResMed.
