HP (NYSE: HPQ) today announced the donation of a $100,000 grant to The Idea Village, a nonprofit dedicated to identifying, supporting and retaining entrepreneurial talent in New Orleans.
The contribution, announced at The Daily Beast Innovators Summit, includes HP technologies that entrepreneurs can use to collaborate, engage and share ideas worldwide.

- HP's donation supports The Idea Village's mission to foster the growing entrepreneurial community in New Orleans and is intended to serve as a catalyst to encourage entrepreneurs to "Trust Their Crazy Ideas" and grow scalable companies in their great city.
- Shane Robison, executive vice president and chief strategy and technology officer, HP, and Michael Mendenhall, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, HP, will speak at The Daily Beast Innovators Summit.
- During New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (March 18-26, 2011), The Idea Village will host the "HP Innovation Challenge," an elevator pitch competition open to New Orleans-area entrepreneurs with ideas for ventures that will create positive social and economic change.
- To date, The Idea Village has supported more than 570 local entrepreneurs and allocated more than 56,000 consulting hours and $2.5 million in capital. The entrepreneur portfolio generates more than $87 million in annual revenue and has created 1,000 jobs for the community.
- Since 2007, HP has partnered with more than 200 organizations to reach students, recent graduates and entrepreneurs in more than 45 countries.
