DETROIT, Nov. 24, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- One day shy of the November 2010 Nielsen ratings period ending, WDIV-TV Local 4 News has won at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. Additionally, Local 4 News Morning at 6 a.m. continued to experience strong growth and was #2 in the coveted Women 25-54 demographic during the November 2010 Nielsen ratings period in the Detroit television market.
Local 4 News at 5pm finished first, garnering a 7.1 rating with a 15 share, out-delivering both WXYZ (6.7 RTG, 14 SHR) and WJBK (4.2 RTG, 9 SHR) in household ratings. Local 4 News at 5pm was also the top rated 5 p.m. news in the market in delivery of the highly coveted Adults 25-54 and Women 25-54 demographics. WDIV's 5 p.m. news is up 15% in Women 25-54 ratings and 13% in Adult 25-54 ratings over October 2010. This marks the 6th month in a row where WDIV has experienced ratings growth in these key demographics.
In the 6-6:30 p.m. time period, Local 4 News at 6 p.m. finished #1 in household ratings as well as in all key demographics. Local 4 News at 6 p.m. scored an 8.1 household rating and a 16 share (compared to WXYZ 6.6 RTG, 13 SHR and WJBK 3.9 RTG, 9 SHR). WDIV also placed first in Adults 25-54 and Women 25-54 ratings' delivery.
Local 4 News at 11 p.m., the perennial powerhouse of late news anchored by Carmen Harlan, Devin Scillian, Chuck Gaidica and Bernie Smilovitz, dominated all local newscasts, garnering a 9.2 household rating and a 17 share (compared to WXYZ 8.1 RTG, 15 SHR, WJBK 10pm 6.1 RTG, 10 SHR, and WJBK 11pm M-F 3.6 RTG, 7 SHR). Local 4 News at 11 p.m. had the highest ratings of news on any station, in any time period in the Detroit television market during November 2010. Further, Local 4 News at 11 p.m. was the #1 late newscast among all NBC affiliates in the top 20 markets nationwide.
Local 4 News Morning, anchored by Guy Gordon, Rhonda Walker and Andrew Humphrey, was #2 in Women 25-54 ratings, increasing its year-to-year share delivery by 23%. During the same period, WJBK's Fox 2 News Morning at 6 a.m. declined 23 % in Women 25-54 share.
The WDIV programming lineup experienced strong ratings in other dayparts as well. At 10-11 a.m., The Ellen Degeneres Show was #1 (3.9 HH RTG, 13 SHR) and continues to dominate and grow in all key demographics. In the 2-3 p.m. time period, Real Housewives, which premiered in September, experienced an increase of 20% share in Women 25-54 over a year ago. In the all important access time period, 7-8pm, WDIV's Wheel Of Fortune and Jeopardy dominate the competition. WDIV's 7-8pm game show hour averages a 10 rating with an 18 share in household ratings. WDIV out-delivers all of its access competitors, topping WJBK by nearly a 3 to 1 margin (10 HH RTG vs. 3.6 HH RTG) and beating WXYZ decisively by 52%. Both Wheel Of Fortune and Jeopardy continue to experience significant demographic growth, up 18% in Women 25-54 rating, year-to-year.
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno was also #1 in the 11:35 p.m. time period with a 4.6 household rating and an 11 share. Leno's November 2010 performance out-delivered Conan's performance from a year ago by 44% in household ratings.
