Amstelveen, 25 November 2010
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will launch double daily service to Aalborg in Denmark on commencement of its summer schedule on 27 March 2011. After Billund and Copenhagen, Aalborg will be KLM's third destination in Denmark. KLM will also be the first carrier to offer a direct connection between Amsterdam and Aalborg.
Pieter Elbers, Senior Vice President Network & Alliances at KLM: "Aalborg is an attractive destination for business travellers and tourists. It is an excellent new destination within the KLM network. Introducing a scheduled service to this third destination in Denmark will strengthen our position in the Scandinavian market. And in addition this is the first time Aalborg connects with a hub outside Scandinavia. KLM previously announced an increase of capacity in the European network as per the summer schedule 2011."
KLM will operate its flights to Aalborg using a Fokker 70 aircraft, which offers seats for 80 passengers. The Aalborg-Amsterdam flights depart daily from Aalborg at 06:25 in the morning and at 14:15 in the afternoon. The return flights depart daily at 12:15 in the afternoon and at 20:35 in the evening. From Schiphol, transfer passengers originating from Aalborg can continue their journey to 78 European destinations and 74 intercontinental destinations with only one stop in Amsterdam. The 74 intercontinental destinations are made up of 21 destinations in North America, 10 in Mid- and South America, 25 in Africa and the Middle East and 18 destinations in Asia. Bookings can be made from Monday, 29 November using the reservations systems or online via www.klm.com (http://www.klm.com).
After Copenhagen (http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kopenhagen), Århus (http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%85rhus_%28stad%29) and Odense (http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odense), Aalborg is Denmark's fourth biggest city. It is also the capital of the North Jutland (http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noord-Jutland_%28regio%29) region, which is best known for its beautiful nature and beaches. Aalborg is one of Denmark's industrial centres; its knowledge industry in particular has developed rapidly in recent years.
