                          Transfer of Treasury Shares                          

Spectris plc announces that on 24 December 2010, the following ordinary shares
were transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share option
allotments under the Spectris Performance Share Plan:

1,690 shares at 5 pence per share

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares
in issue (excluding the total of 9,073,760 ordinary shares now held in
treasury) is 115,931,363.
