Deborah Daccord, a member of the Health Law Practice of Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., will be a speaker at the 12th annual American Bar Association (ABA) Emerging Issues in Health Care Law conference to be held February 23-26 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Ms. Daccord will be speaking on a panel sponsored by the ABA's Business & Transactions Interest Group entitled "New Pitfalls in Health Care Transactions," discussing the increased interest in health care mergers and acquisitions and the legal and regulatory impediments these transactions face. In addition to looking at the challenges presented by increased scrutiny and enforcement by federal authorities, Ms. Daccord and her co-presenters Norman Armstrong, Jr., the Deputy Director, Mergers IV Division, Bureau of Competition of the Federal Trade Commission, and William T. Mathias, of Ober Kaler, will be discussing the issues presented by the antitrust law, Stark law, anti-kickback statute, among other state and federal laws, in health care transactions.
The ABA Health Law Section's Conference on Emerging Issues in Health Care Law covers emergent topics facing the health care bar. This year's conference will also offer a Breast Cancer Legal Advocacy workshop and a conflict resolution workshop geared toward health care providers, in addition to CLE programming and an ethics workshop.
