MISSOULA, MT -- (Marketwire) -- 02/03/11 -- When you love technology it is sometimes easy to focus on the technology itself and lose sight of the fact that technology is a tool, not an end in itself. This year's Education Technology Conference (ETC) for rural teachers and administrators will focus on using technology tools in the classroom to build relationships with students, peers, mentors, the community and the world. The conference is scheduled for August 2-5, 2011 at the University of Montana and will provide many opportunities for hands-on training in SMART Board™ technologies, hand-held devices, Web 2.0 tools, digital citizenship, open source, Moodle, iPad, iTouch, moviemaker, video conferencing equipment and applications, as well as funding technology and developing technology rich lesson plans.
Those attending the conference will learn how distance and classroom technologies can bring lessons to life and tools to keep students safe on the Internet and engaged in the classroom. With speakers from Blackfoot's Data Network Support team, the University of Montana, WaterColor Computer Training, T.E.S.T., Inc., Alter Enterprise, Vision Net, Inc., Apple, and NASA, attendees will be engaged, and will qualify for OPI Renewal and UM Graduate Credits.
Conference registration will begin on March 1, 2011. The cost of attending the 4-day conference is free for Blackfoot Cooperative members residing in western Montana. For non-members, the cost is $150 and includes lunch.
