Priceline.com's Name Your Own Price Hotel Service Offers a Budget-Friendly Alternative for State Lawmakers On The Go

NORWALK, Conn., Feb. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Lawmakers in need of out-of-state hotel accommodations that are easy on their budgets can find them at priceline.com's Name Your Own Price® hotel service, where savings can be as much as 60% over published rates.

Last week, The Wall Street Journal reported that Wisconsin State Sen. Jon Erpenbach got his Chicago hotel room on priceline.com for $99, which he called a "good deal" (sorry about the $28 room service hamburger).

"We certainly appreciate Sen. Erpenbach's 'unofficial' endorsement," said Priceline's Senior Travel Analyst Brian Ek. "Priceline's Name Your Own Price® hotel service is ideal for any type of traveler who has to take a last-minute trip and needs a high-quality hotel room at a budget-friendly price."

Priceline's Name Your Own Price® hotel service http://www.priceline.com/hotels/ is easy to use. You just choose your desired dates, city, neighborhood, star level and the price you're willing to pay for the room. Priceline then tries to match you up with a hotel that will agree to your offer. Hotels agree to discounts of up to 60% because Priceline doesn't publish hotel names. You get your hotel details after your price is accepted and the room is booked. Once booked, reservations are non-changeable and non-cancellable.

Priceline works with name-brand hotels in star levels ranging from 1-star to 5-star. Name Your Own Price® hotel rooms can be booked up until 11:00 p.m. ET on the night you need the room.

Mobile device users can book their Name Your Own Price® hotel rooms using Priceline's Hotel Negotiator app for the iPhone and Android. The apps are available free from the app store http://www.itunes.com/appstore/ and from the Android market.

If you're not sure what to bid on a room, priceline.com has a Winning Bids feature http://travela.priceline.com/promo/hotel_winning_bids_60off.html that offers samples of winning bids made by other Priceline Hotels guests. Here are some recent winning Illinois hotel bids made by Priceline hotel guests, although deals are available in other states, as well as internationally:

-- Chicago, $89/night, 61% savings, 4-star hotel, Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park. -- Springfield, $60/night, 55% savings, 3-star hotel, Springfield area. -- Peoria, $60/night, 51% savings, 2.5-star hotel, East Peoria. -- Rockford, $60/night, 53% savings, 3-star hotel, Rockford area.
