Essentials of Fundraising Certificate Program Offers Nonprofits Tools for Growth / New workshop series presented by Connecticut Association of Nonprofits and Association of Fundraising Professionals Connecticut Chapter

HARTFORD, Conn. and HAMDEN, Conn., March 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Connecticut Association of Nonprofits (CT Nonprofits), the largest membership organization in the state dedicated exclusively to working with nonprofits in Connecticut, has partnered with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Connecticut Chapter to offer The Essentials of Fundraising Certificate Program, a series of five, introductory level, half-day workshops on fundraising theory and practice.

The Essentials of Fundraising Certificate Program Workshops are taught by members of AFP who are experts in their respective fields. All are designed to help new and established nonprofit organizations raise money more effectively and efficiently. Workshops are geared toward novice to intermediate development personnel, executive directors, board members, volunteers and others interested in learning more about fundraising.

"The competitive landscape of fundraising is changing," said Mark Berardi, Director of Membership & Training of the Connecticut Association of Nonprofits. "Nonprofits have to work harder than ever to secure funding and diversify their revenue. This series includes introductory, time-tested techniques that provide a competitive advantage to organizations of any size at a fraction of traditional training costs."

Among the featured workshop topics are: Starting a Development Program; Annual Giving; Corporate and Foundation Grantseeking; Board and Volunteer Development; and, Individual Major Gift Fundraising.

The first workshop in The Essentials of Fundraising Certificate Program will take place on March 31 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund, One Hamden Center, 2319 Whitney Avenue, Suite 2B, Hamden, Conn. Subsequent workshops will take place on April 6, April 13, April 21 and April 28 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Workshops are $60 per session or $250 for all five sessions, which includes a continental breakfast. Pre-registration is required.
