U.S. Circuits Takes Delivery of New Direct-Write Digital Imaging (DI) System From Maskless Lithography / PCB Industry in Transition as Maskless' New DI Systems Sharply Reduce Cost Per Core for PCB Makers

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Maskless Lithography, Inc., a leading supplier of digital imaging technologies to the global printed circuit board (PCB) industry, announced today that U.S. Circuits, Inc. has taken delivery of Maskless Lithography's innovative direct-write imaging systems (DI) at its Southern California facility.

As the limitations of contact printing become increasingly apparent, particularly as the PCB industry approaches 50 micron feature sizes, customers are quickly turning their attention to Maskless' direct-write imaging technologies, commonly known as DI. Direct write imaging achieves more than twice the throughout of conventional digital technologies like laser direct imaging (LDI) and dot matrix, which also require costly special resist and other support features. Maskless Lithography's MLI-2024 DI products are offering the best total cost of ownership for customers performing ultra-quick turn prototyping, or volume production of high layer counts and high density interconnects (HDI) solutions.

Mike Fariba, president, U.S. Circuits commented, "True to our history and reputation, we continue to build on our capabilities and increase our quality metrics in order to create the very highest value for our customers. We are very pleased about the MLI-2024 addition to our production floor, which will help us to continue to exceed our customers' expectations when it comes to technology, quality and delivery."

"Our DI solutions continue to gain significant traction with customers thanks in large part to achieving the lowest cost per print in the industry today using standard and much less expensive material sets," commented Dr. William Elder, president and chief executive officer (CEO), Maskless Lithography, Inc. "We are thrilled that U.S. Circuits, long renowned for delivering high quality, high reliability products to the market, has adopted our MLI-2024 DI System. It is a significant achievement for our company."

Over the past 18 months, MLI has quickly achieved several milestones, more than tripling the size of the company, particularly in the area of design and customer technical support. The company's third generation products will be officially unveiled at next month's annual IPC Expo in Las Vegas.

"Our MLI-2024 solutions will complement U.S. Circuit's technology, providing the company with a high-resolution, phototool-free lithography solution with a very low total cost of ownership," noted Ed Carignan, chief operating officer (COO) of Maskless Lithography. Maskless' DI products are engineered like nothing that has come before. We thank U.S. Circuit for recognizing this in their choice of this machine for their digital imaging needs."
