Engineering News-Record Receives Five Awards, Sweeping Neals / GreenSource magazine also a winner; Jane Kolleeny receives McAllister Editorial Fellowship

NEW YORK, March 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- McGraw-Hill Construction's Engineering News-Record (ENR), and GreenSource today received six Jesse H. Neal Business Journalism Awards from American Business Media at its 57th annual awards luncheon in New York City. Called "the Pulitzer Prize of business journalism," the prestigious Neal Awards recognize editorial excellence in business-to-business publications.

"Being a Neal Award winner is truly an honor, and I congratulate the Engineering News-Record and GreenSource editorial teams for receiving these awards today," said Keith Fox, president of McGraw-Hill Construction. "Their high quality journalism delivers actionable advice, technical expertise, and social media-fueled connections to McGraw-Hill Construction customers and propels our industry forward."

ENR's five 2011 Neal Awards include:

-- A new category, "Best Body of Work by a Single Author," for Tudor Van
        Hampton's comprehensive reporting in 2010
-- "Best Profile" for its "Award of Excellence Winner: John Hillman"
article, cited as a "richly sourced" piece with "enlightening video and
        outstanding reporting"
-- "Best News Coverage" for "Rebuilding Haiti," a detailed analysis "full
of technical details that offer practical value as well as human
        interest stories"
    -- "Best Technical Content" for "Hot-Linked Jobsites," a forward-looking
        article that "packs practical punch"
-- "Best Use of Social Media" for "Using Social Media to Build Community"
on Twitter, ENR.com blogs, and elsewhere online

In addition, ENR's "Award of Excellence" piece was one of four Grand Neal finalists, selected from today's winners. ENR competed in the "more than $7,000,000 in gross advertising/circulation revenue" tier. It is considered the primary trusted source of news, analysis, commentary, and data for the construction industry. In 2010, ENR received three Neal Awards for "Best Profile," "Best News Coverage," and "Best Technical Content." Follow ENR on Twitter: @ENRNews.

GreenSource's "Greenbuild Chicago: Transforming the Metropolis" series won "Best Integrated Package" in the "less than $3,000,000 in gross advertising/circulation revenue" tier. The event-based package provided insights for Greenbuild attendees. A mainstay in the green building market since 2006, GreenSource magazine and GreenSourceMag.com are produced by McGraw-Hill Construction and BuildingGreen, Inc., with support from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). GreenSource is a leader in covering noteworthy trends and best practices in sustainable design and also received a 2010 Neal Award for "Best Single Issue."

Jane Kolleeny, managing editor of GreenSource, was also honored at the ceremony as the McAllister Editorial Fellowship recipient. As managing editor, Kolleeny works closely with the top green building design firms and USGBC and BuildingGreen leaders. She is also a senior editor for Architectural Record. For these McGraw-Hill Construction publications, Kolleeny edits, writes, scouts, assigns, shepherds, manages, schedules, and represents both magazines at events, often speaking on panels and serving on juries for the American Institute of Architects, USGBC, American Society of Landscape Architects, and Society for Marketing Professional Services. Under her stewardship, GreenSource and Architectural Record have won numerous awards, including Neals, Eddies and Ozzies. Prior to McGraw-Hill, Kolleeny was a marketing director for several architecture firms.

Paying tribute to the Neal Award finalists, American Business Media President and CEO Clark Pettit said, "We at ABM are so proud to honor these journalists and editors. Their expertise, ability to push progress across existing and new channels, and successful track records of informing the industry on important issues place them at the forefront of their fields."
