BOSTON, March 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bunker Hill Community College is inaugurating its new gymnasium this spring with free and low-cost fitness courses open to all. A soccer clinic for children five-to-seven years old, a basic yoga course, a fitness course for seniors, plus classes in Zumba, Pilates, Tai Chi and aerobics are among the offerings. Classes begin as early as March 23, 2011. The cost per course ranges from free to $49.
The new gymnasium is located in the College's Health & Wellness Center, a 48,000-square-foot building housing the College's nursing and health professions programs. The light-filled structure has received LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for energy-saving measures. The Gold-level certification indicates that the College has not only met but exceeded the stringent requirements of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for energy efficiency in the design and construction of new buildings.
Developed by the College's Community Education program, in collaboration with Academic and Student Services, the new classes are part of the College's commitment to promote health and fitness in the broader community.
