HOSA and the Office of the Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps Select 2011 Office of the Surgeon General HOSA Interns

DALLAS, March 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- HOSA - Future Health Professionals and the Office of the Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps have selected the HOSA internship participants in the Office of the Surgeon General (OSG) for summer 2011.

The 2011 OSG-HOSA Internship is designed to afford HOSA members the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, refine professional capabilities and increase their awareness of the infrastructure, operations and responsibilities of the OSG and United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps.

HOSA Interns will shadow OSG staff and take on a project that directly furthers the mission and priorities of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Following the internship, participants will have the opportunity to present their experience during an educational symposium at the 2012 HOSA National Leadership Conference and other identified venues where HOSA students, advisors, and alumni may convene. The HOSA Internship is a( )unique opportunity to make a valuable contribution to the HHS, OSG, and the USPHS in a short period of time.

This year's interns represent the various backgrounds and interests of HOSA members from across the nation:Angel Clark, of Lexington, South Carolina, Health Science Educator; Samiha Azim, senior at Central High School in Keller, TX; Aakash Patel, senior at South Forsyth High School in Suwanee, GA; Brittany Ebbing, sophomore at Arizona State University in Phoenix, AZ; Oregon McDiarmid, senior at Willow Canyon High School in Waddell, AZ; and Brittany Woods, senior at Apple Valley High School in Apple Valley, CA.
