SCC/AAAE Presents Leadership Award to KSA / Civil engineering firm honored for outstanding service

LONGVIEW, Texas, April 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The South Central Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives recently honored KSA Engineers, Inc. with an association Corporate Member Award in recognition of KSA's outstanding service and support to the South Central Chapter and to the Loretta Scott Accreditation Academy.

KSA Principals Craig Phipps, P.E., and Steve Creamer, P.E., were on hand during the South Central Chapter Annual Conference in Corpus Christi to accept the award and say a few words of appreciation.

"KSA is honored to be nominated for the Corporate Member Award," Phipps said. "We are especially proud of the contributions we have been able to make to the Loretta Scott Accreditation Academy. The Academy advances the development of airport executives which in turn advances the profession that we all have so much passion for and have invested so much into."

Director of San Angelo-Mathis Field Airport Luis E. Elguezabal presented the award to the two KSA principals and commended them for their efforts in sponsoring all three sessions of the Loretta Scott Accreditation/Certification Academy.

"KSA has, as far as I have been involved with the Chapter, always contributed and assisted the South Central Chapter," Elguezabal said. "Recently, KSA Engineers, sponsored all three Loretta Scott Accreditation Academies for 2011. It is the first time that one firm has sponsored all three Academies. It is partnerships like this that made KSA Engineers the Corporate Award recipient for 2011."

The three-day conference took place on the Corpus Christi bayfront where attendees could enjoy beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico. The City of Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi International Airport hosted the conference March 27-March 30th at the Omni-Bayfront Hotel.

There were 140 registrants attending the conference which kicked off with a golf tournament at Northshore Country Club in Portland. Attendees were then treated to a Welcome Reception at the Art Museum of South Texas. One of the highlights of the annual conference was the legislative update session which included the regional heads of the TSA and FAA and top officials from the AAAE. The educational sessions also included presentations on economic development at airports and on some specific ways that airports can try to lure business development on to airport property. Attendees were also given an overview of how the TSA and local airport authorities could partner up to weather change when it comes to security measures that are being enhanced at commercial airports across the nation.

Attendance at the sessions was high this year, which indicates a hearty appetite among airport professionals for the kinds of solutions that can be discovered in an open and informative dialogue.
