Everything Channel's COMDEXvirtual Fulfills "Daunting Legacy," Win's B2B Award

CHICAGO, April 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Last week Everything Channel's COMDEXvirtual won min's Best of the Web award in the Virtual Trade Show/Online Event category. Designed and powered by UBM Studios, COMDEXvirtual was recognized as the outstanding website and digital initiative among consumer and B2B media companies.

According to min's, "For years before the bubble burst, COMDEX was a techie pilgrimage of epic scale that spoke to the emerging importance of IT in all of business. In reviving the event as a virtual show, UBM Studios and Everything Channel had a daunting legacy to fulfill. The final product demonstrated just how rich the virtual trade show experience had become. In addition to its online sessions and 30 sponsored booths, the show coordinated with Intel to combine the sponsor's own private live event with the COMDEX virtual show. The virtual COMDEX exceeded all estimates, with over 5,000 attendees...and tremendous conversion performance from key sponsor Intel."

COMDEXvirtual was presented November 16-17, 2010. The theme was "New Business Solutions: Embracing Disruptive Technologies & Changing Delivery Models." Components of COMDEXvirtual included:

-- Auditorium which showcased nearly 50 sessions including keynote speakers
        as well as technical, product, channel and business sessions;
    -- Exhibit Hall which offered booths and pavilions which enabled peer
        interaction;
    --  Hospitality Suites which hosted private meetings and briefings;
    --  Press Room which hosted registered journalists who covered the event;
    -- Social media integration offered multiple avenues for attendees to
        connect and share through Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
    -- Event within an Event enabled the Intel Private Pavilion to host
        presentations into COMDEXvirtual on Day 2. This event was the first time
        the Intel Channel Conference and the Embedded Road Show were combined
        into a single event and offered both live and virtually. It was also the
        first hybrid event offered as a part of COMDEXvirtual.

COMDEXvirtual is on demand through May 2011 and will return November 15-16, 2011.

"We are thrilled to have helped resurrect the COMDEX brand and execute a successful virtual event specifically designed for the IT channel community," said Robert Faletra, CEO, Everything Channel. "We are grateful to be included in min's Best of the Web awards as COMDEX now has the historical distinction of having been both the largest face-to-face, as well as virtual IT trade show. Together with our sister company UBM Studios and through the help of expert speakers, exhibitors and attendees, we look forward to continuing this tradition to offer IT channel executives a meaningful and dynamic environment to share best practices, exchange ideas and address key challenges."

"Creating the unique COMDEXvirtual environment with the look and feel of Las Vegas with several new, innovative features was an exciting challenge for UBM Studios," said Kate Spellman, President of UBM Studios. "We are honored to be recognized for this award and continue to focus on engaging and connecting audiences virtually. We look forward to enhancing the COMDEXvirtual environment as we prepare for this year's event."
