GreenCitizen Offers Free Electronics Recycling at All 4 San Francisco Bay Area Eco-Centers Through End of May

SAN FRANCISCO, April 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Old electronics piling up in the garage or basement? Now is your chance to do something about it. GreenCitizen will offer free e-waste recycling at its eco-centers in San Francisco, Burlingame and Palo Alto from April 16 - May 31, 2011 and at its newest location grand opening in downtown Berkeley from April 22nd through the end of May.

Items accepted for recycling include monitors and television sets, desktop and laptop computers, printers, fax machines, copiers, home entertainment and stereo equipment, cell phones, answering machines and microwave ovens. GreenCitizen also collects smaller items such as printer cartridges, CDs, DVDs, and cell phones. A complete list of acceptable items can be found at http://greencitizen.com/what_we_recycle.php

GreenCitizen is a socially and environmentally responsible company dedicated to helping consumers and businesses reduce their environmental footprint through proper management of their unwanted or obsolete electronics. GreenCitizen achieves this through a variety of IT services (including computer upgrade and iPhone repair), as well as closed-loop reuse and donation, all aimed at keeping electronics out of the waste stream. Finally, GreenCitizen offers convenient drop-off and responsible recycling locations for end-of-life electronics; a service that is fully accountable all the way through de-manufacturing.

GreenCitizen celebrates its 6th anniversary in 2011. Since opening its first center in Palo Alto on Earth Day 2005, GreenCitizen has successfully diverted an estimated 6.5 million pounds of harmful electronic waste from California landfills and dumping grounds overseas. Some 10,000 items collected have been responsibly reused in the U.S. GreenCitizen has grown to serve more than 110,000 consumers and 10,000 business customers.
