WHAT: | 4th Annual National Walk @ Lunch Day Celebration - Walking is one of the simplest, safest and most effective forms of exercise, but it can be hard to find time in a busy schedule to participate in physical activity, which is why IBC is encouraging Philadelphians to turn a working lunch into a walking lunch. With the help of area employers and legislators, IBC will demonstrate how easy it is to fit regular exercise into a normal work day and busy lifestyle.
WHEN: | Wednesday, April 27, 2011, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Special remarks by Mayor Michael Nutter at 11:40 a.m.
WHERE: | Dilworth Plaza at City Hall, Broad Street & Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107
While similar walks will take place across the country in a national program sponsored by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, IBC is hosting a centralized walk in Center City Philadelphia. Participants will be invited to walk a short, 1.5-mile course around the perimeter of City Hall to help promote the health benefits of physical activity. Employer groups not in walking distance to that site are encouraged to plan walks at their individual business locations.
REGISTER: | Walking 30 minutes, 5 days a week can decrease the risk of heart attack and type 2 diabetes, control weight, improve muscle tone & reduce stress - plus it's free. For those looking to take the first step toward a healthier life on April 27, register here: https://ecom.ibx.com/ibx/htdocs/news_events/events/walk_at_lunch/registration.html
