TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 05/02/11 -- Attention News Editors:

The Law Society of Upper Canada regulates the lawyers and paralegals of Ontario in the public interest. The Law Society ensures that all lawyers and licensed paralegals in Ontario meet standards of learning, professional competence and professional conduct that are appropriate for the legal services provided.

As part of this mandate, the Law Society's Hearing and Appeal Panels recently heard the following matters. Hearing and Appeal Panels are responsible for determining the appropriate disposition of cases.

Rupen Balaram-Sivaram (2008) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Paralegal's licence is revoked.

Jay Ian Bernholtz (1979) of the Town of Markham
Decision: The Lawyer is reprimanded.

Ormila Bhoopaul of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Paralegal Applicant was ordered to pay costs of $10,000.

Howard Randall Burch of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Paralegal Applicant's application for a Class P1 licence was
granted.

Roy Francis Dmello (1998) of the Town of Oakville
Decision: The Lawyer is awarded costs of $1,200.

Mario Giangioppo of the City of Toronto
Decision: The paralegal's appeal from a decision dated September 24, 2010,
was dismissed.

George Kuzmicz (1981) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer is suspended for 15 days, commencing immediately, and
continuing indefinitely thereafter until specified conditions are met.

Colin Cameron Leon Lyle (1998) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer was suspended with conditions from practice, effective
November 1, 2010, for six months. For one year following resumption of
practice, he shall not practise in the area of C.A.S. custody disputes.

Lucienne MacLauchlan (1992) of the Town of Napanee
Decision: The Lawyer is suspended for one month, commencing April 27, 2011,
and continuing indefinitely until specified conditions are met.

Francesco Puchiele (1999) of the City of Vaughan
Decision: The Lawyer's licence is revoked.

Paul Ross (1967) of the Town of Goderich
Decision: Pursuant to the order of the appeal panel, Particular 3 is
dismissed.

Norman Silver (1971) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer's previously ordered eight-month suspension will start
June 30, 2011.
