Wissahickon Senior High School Junior to be presented with $5,000 scholarship
State Treasurer Rob McCord will join Chris Moseley, vice president of marketing for the award-winning cable network HISTORY®, and Lisa Bruder, a sales executive with the global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 23, in the Wissahickon Senior High School auditorium, 521 Houston Road, Ambler, PA 19002, to present junior Tyler Leard with a $5,000 scholarship, which he will deposit in a 529 college savings plan.
Leard took third place out of over 22,000 students who participated in the National Civil War Student Challenge - a nationwide contest in which students put their Civil War knowledge to the test. HISTORY and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt sponsored the Challenge as part of their observance of the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War.
The McCord Treasury administers Pennsylvania's 529 College Savings Program.
