PARIS, June 20, 2011/PRNewswire/ -- PARIS AIR SHOW -- Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation's NP2000 propeller successfully completed performance testing with the U.S. Air Force on C-130H aircraft, and is nearing completion of operational evaluation by the New York Air National Guard on LC-130 aircraft, marking two more milestones in Hamilton Sundstrand's propeller modernization program. Hamilton Sundstrand is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation (NYSE: UTX).
The testing with the U.S. Air Force covered complete aircraft and propeller performance gains on C-130H aircraft, after replacing the Hamilton Sundstrand four bladed 54H60 propeller with the modern NP2000 eight bladed propeller. As a result of operational evaluation on LC-130 aircraft for the past two years, the New York Air National Guard has requested the NP2000 propeller as a permanent modification for their fleet of LC-130.
The NP2000 propeller system offers many benefits to C-130 users, including shorter take-off roll, improved climb, quieter operations, and lower operating and support costs.

Earlier this year, Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) awarded Hamilton Sundstrand a contract for the procurement and installation of as many as 25 electronic propeller control system (EPCS) aircraft kits for the U.S. Navy Reserve's C-130T aircraft and the U.S. Air National Guard's LC-130H aircraft. EPCS kits replace 54H60 propeller mechanical controls with a system based on digital computer software and are part of Hamilton Sundstrand's propeller modernization program, which can be applied to NP2000 propellers in the future.
