New CalCPA Chair Notes Need to Offer More Programs to Business, Industry CPAs

LAS VEGAS, June 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Eduardo Jordan, CPA, has been installed as the 2011-12 chair of the 38,000-member California Society of CPAs (CalCPA) during the society's annual council meeting here. He is the chief financial officer of Nolet Spirits USA, a beverage importer based in Aliso Viejo, Calif.

During his inaugural address, Jordan said CalCPA will reach out to CPAs in business and industry and offer more programs for them. He also noted that the society will focus on three priorities:

  • Attract, educate and support CPAs in their professional and personal growth.
  • Advocate for members on issues that affect the profession.
  • Enhance and promote the visibility of the profession and CalCPA.

"CalCPA also will continue to help our members grow as leaders with programs such as the Emerging Leaders certificate, now in its second year, and Leadership Institute, now in its seventh year," Jordan said.

A native of Ecuador, Jordan came to the United States in 1967 when he was 19 years old. He is involved with the Hispanic 100, a California nonprofit that helps develop leaders from the Hispanic community. He chairs the Mission Hospital Foundation board of directors in Orange County.

Jordan, a San Clemente resident, attended California State University, Fullerton, and the University of Southern California, where he received an MBA with accounting emphasis.
