WASHINGTON, July 8, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- PBS's "THIS IS AMERICA," a weekly public affairs television series hosted by seasoned journalist Dennis Wholey, will air four programs during the month of July featuring Cyprus.
On July 10th, "THIS IS AMERICA VISITS THE ANCIENT WORLD," will showcase the biblical location of the Pillar of St. Paul in Cyprus, the site in Paphos where St. Paul was allegedly tied to this pillar in 45 A.D. and was given 39 lashes for preaching Christianity. The program will also feature the desert city of Petra in Jordan and the Pyramids of ancient Egypt.
Beginning July 17th, "THIS IS AMERICA" will rollout this month's feature program, 'THIS IS AMERICA VISITS CYPRUS" which will showcase Cyprus's rich culture and history, booming business and commerce and the Island nation's thriving tourism industry. The series will also explore how the country's political scene has shaped Cyprus' history.
In collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus and the competent authorities of the Government of Cyprus, "THIS IS AMERICA" traveled to Cyprus to get a first hand look at the country's historic sites, speak with officials and experience the rich cultural heritage.
