SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- (Marketwire) -- 07/12/11 -- The National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP), a not-for-profit pharmacy standards development organization, announced today registration is open for its SCRIPT Version 10.6 Webinar, which will take place Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. EDT. The webinar is intended for pharmacists, physicians, payers, processors, intermediaries, and vendors who support ePrescribing.
The 90-minute webinar will provide a 360 degree view of the features and functionality available in SCRIPT Version 10.6 designed to improve the patient experience and make it easier for pharmacists, physicians and other prescribers to coordinate drug delivery/care in both ambulatory and Long Term and Post-Acute Care (LTPAC) settings.
SCRIPT Version 10.6 improves efficiency, accuracy and clarity in ePrescribing, and leverages RxNorm to enhance drug codification, improve patient safety and administrative efficiency. Among its benefits, Version 10.6:
- Lays a foundation for clinical review and analysis by standardizing the electronic format for communicating instructions on how a patient should use a medication.
- Enables physicians and other prescribers to better coordinate prior authorization approvals, denials, and deferrals with pharmacists to reduce administrative burden and also save patients time.
- Documents the sources of where medication histories are obtained to provide the ability to consolidate them into a single medication history.
- Enables prescribers to notify the pharmacy to no longer continue dispensing any open refills on an active prescription, or to cancel a prescription that has not yet been dispensed.
- Provides an automated way for a pharmacist to request a change to a prescription to allow generic substitution; change dosages; avoid drug-drug interaction; request prior authorization; and more.
Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, registered to attend, may earn 1.5 hours of Continuing Education (CE) Credits from the ACPE. CE Credit is being provided by AmerisourceBergen.
