OCALA, Fla., July 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Representative Cantor is quoted on CNN as saying he not spoken to anyone who has said "raise my taxes".
Well, I just completed signing the third check for estimated taxes. I'm paying earlier than required to make sure I don't spend the funds for any other reason. Two checks, for my company, were sent during the past week to the IRS and to the State Treasury. I opted not to transmit electronically because I'm concerned those agencies could be targets for hackers, so I selected a courier whose services enable me to track the deliveries, while my business with that company adds to the job security of its employees. The third check, to cover personal estimated taxes, amounts to about 40% of my estimated income - by the time income, self-employment, and social security levies are covered. It will be sent out tomorrow, for delivery by the middle of next week.
And I want Representative Cantor to know that he should disclose that I do not agree in any way whatsoever to the positions he is espousing related to raising the debt ceiling, or on taxation in general, let alone his personal presentations in the Congressional negotiations with the President and Vice President. I will NOT vote for anyone who thinks Mr. Cantor represents me or my principles. I do not think I am over-taxed.
So, I have turned off the media on this subject for I am happy to have a successful practice and willingly pay my fair share. Does that mean I am happy with every decision or policy? No! But I am tired of the posturing, propaganda, promotion of self that constantly keeps some members of Congress in the headlines. It is not governing!
Therefore I would say to Representative Cantor: make sure that every time you say anything about your personal positions on the debt ceiling negotiations or the federal budget, you also should disclose that you have not spoken to me and do not speak for me.
