In mid-May Romney impressed reporters and political pundits with his campaign's claim that they raised over $10 million on a single day. As it turns out, according to Romney's FEC report, he raised only $2,402,686 on that day. No need to break out your calculator, that's $7,597,314 SHORT of what they claimed.
Romney has a well-earned reputation as someone who plays fast and loose with the facts, but this is beyond the pale - even for Mitt Romney.

FEC filings reveal that although Romney claimed to have raised $10 million in a day, the actual amount he brought in on May 16, 2011 from contributions of $200 or more is $2,402,686.
